At least five persons, including a Sunni Tehrik (ST) activist, were killed in separate incidents of violence at various parts of the Sindh metropolis here on Saturday. According to police and rescue sources, armed men claimed the life of a second-hand clothes trader in the limits of Shersha police station. Police said the deceased, who was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), was hit by five bullets.

They said the man, who lived in the Lea Market area, owned a warehouse of used clothes. Following his killing, fellow shopkeepers staged a protest demonstration, bringing all commercial activities to a standstill. An activist of ST named Syed Akbar, 28, was gunned down at Babar Market in Landhi No3.

Police officials said that the victim was a resident of Sector 37-A of Landhi. They suspected that he might have been targeted because of his party affiliation. A 25-year-old man named Kashan Ahmad Siddiqui was shot dead in Orangi Town No5. Police said the deceased had contracted a freewill marriage a few months ago and this might have been the reason behind his killing. Faisal, 32, was killed in a drive-by shooting at Mushki Para located in the Mangopir area. Police said the deceased had a criminal record and might have been killed by other criminals.

The body of a man who was shot dead was found from Officers' Colony in the limits of Nabi Bux police station. Although police officials said that the man appeared to be a Baloch, but his identity was yet to be ascertained. The body was later shifted to the Edhi Morgue.
